This tour is dedicated to seeing the Great Wildebeest Migration & Calving Season from January to March in Ndutu, part of Ngorongoro & Serengeti ecosystems. Over 500,000 new calves are born during this period. February marks the best month to witness the Calving Season. With the numerous young and vulnerable prey, Ndutu becomes an ideal training ground for predators and their cubs hence the most dramatic kills can happen. The destinations included in this tour are Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater.

Program Itinerary: 

Day 1 Arrival at JRO - Transfer to Your Hotel in Arusha

Your guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and escort you to your accommodations in Arusha. The drive from the airport to your hotel is about 45min. One of our representatives accompanied by your safari guide will brief you on your itinerary including sharing all the important tips before your safari begins. If you arrive early, you can option to add one more of the following activities: (activity supplement applies): • Materuni Waterfalls hike • Nature Walk and game drive in Arusha National Park • Canoeing safari in Lake Momella or Lake Duluti • Mountain Biking.

Day 2 Ndutu & Great Migration Safari

In the morning, you will be picked up by your guide for your journey to Ndutu. Ndutu is part of Ngorongoro & Serengeti ecosystems very famous for Wildebeest Migration and Calving Season, which happens between January and March. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift Lakes, however the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. Your day is dedicated in tracking wildebeests and their young ones. Ndutu rewards all visitors with more private off-road game drives with great opportunities to see the resident cheetahs and other big cats. After a day of exciting game viewing, you will proceed further to your lodging for evening leisure, dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Great Migration & Calving Season in Ndutu

Your entire day is devoted in tracking wildebeests and their young ones dispersed on the Ndutu plains. As the food is plenty, predators and other animals give birth as well and this marks the best time to see cubs. With the numerous young and vulnerable prey, Ndutu becomes an ideal training ground for predators and their cubs hence the most dramatic kills can happen. With an option of returning to your lodge for lunch, your day in Ndutu is certainly worthwhile as you observe great herds of wildebeests conquering the Ndutu plains while being hunted by predators. In the evening, you return to your lodging for evening leisure dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Final Game Drive in Ndutu - Transfer to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater

You will enjoy an energetic breakfast, before departing for your final game drive and yet more heart-stopping photo opportunities! Around lunchtime, you will stop at a suitable picnic place for hot lunch before setting off for the natural wonder that is the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arriving at the Crater, you will stand on the rim and gaze a spectacular half mile down to the Crater floor and out over its 100 square mile expanse. There is an optional hour’s walk along the Crater rim accompanied by a Ngorongoro Crater ranger. Following this preview to tomorrow descent into the Crater, you will proceed to your next lodging for evening leisure, dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Ngorongoro Crater Tour

Today you will have an early breakfast and depart with your packed lunch to Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest volcano caldera formed three million years ago and is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world and one of Africa's most remarkable geological sites. You will descend into the crater floor for a day of game viewing. The crater has a unique ecosystem that is inhabited by more than 25,000 resident animals. In the grass steppes and acacia forest you can encounter almost every animal species of the East African savanna, including the “Big Five” (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard). In the evening (depending your departure time), you will ascend the crater and proceed to your respective airport in time for your inbound or outbound air transfer.
