Overview:
This 4-Day Great Serengeti Migration (EAST OF THE GRUMETI RIVER& NAABI HILL) Wet season Safari package has been designed specifically to focus on and to increase your chance to see the great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration in Eastern Serengeti. The eastern plains of the Serengeti ecosystem encompass a massive area. They begin roughly just east of Naabi Hill. They extend east through the Gol Kopjes, Lemuta Hill, Nasera Rock, AngataKiti, the Salei Plains and all the way to the Ngorongoro Highlands.Wildbeests usually linger in north-eastern Serengeti and migrate further south in December.
You will enjoy a Serengeti East Safari during November and December when the mega herds return from Masai Mara National Reserve to the rich plains of the Serengeti National Park, east of the Grumeti River, passing through Lobo and Western Loliondo and under the majestic Gol mountains, at the northern edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, you will find one of the utmost concentrations of cheetahs in the Serengeti, preying on half a million indigenous gazelles and impalas including migrants. The mountains shelter colonies of Ruppell's Griffon Vultures. Wildebeest cover the central-east valleys on their way north after the long rains, and some pour through the scenic bottleneck of the AngataKiti pastures during the shorter rains on their way back south. But with or without the migratory millions, this area is breathtaking for its immensity and feeling of freedomthe world famous Ngorongoro Crater.
Lobo, at the eastern edge of the Serengeti National Park and on a small stretch of the Grumeti River that offers excellent year-round game observation, gives unrivaled views of grassland and kopjes. Farther south, outside the game park border, and almost a third as large as the Serengeti National Park, Loliondo is a private concession and more versatile

Full Day Game-Drive (Eastern Serengeti)–Back to Central Serengeti
After breakfast enjoy a full day game drive in the Eastern Serengeti. The Wildebeest usually linger in north-eastern Serengeti and migrate further south in December. The Gol Kopjes, located on the Eastern Plains, boast the highest concentrations of cheetahs in Africa during the wet season. The majority of the cheetahs in the Serengeti are migratory in that many of them follow the Thomson's Gazelle migration to the eastern short grass plains during the wet season and then back to the Central Serengeti (plains/woodland border) during the dry season. During the wet season, the eastern plains offer the best cheetah viewing in the Serengeti and in all of Africa. On a full day game drive to the GOL kopjes, you will likely encounter several groups of cheetahs. Cheetahs are strictly diurnal (day-time) hunters and with a little luck you will witness the fastest land animal in the world in action.
In addition to cheetahs, the eastern plains are home to the largest concentrations of hyenas during the green season. Large clans of hyenas numbering up to 30 individuals are regularly spotted from Naabi Hill east through the Gol Kopjes and Lemuta Hill. Hyenas, the most abundant predator in the entire ecosystem, are semi-nomadic and 'commute' to the Eastern Plains during the wet season from their den sites located in the Central Serengeti. Lion numbers are also high on the eastern plains during the wet season. The majority of the lions in the Serengeti are resident but a significant portion is nomadic (roughly 20%) and they do follow the migratory animals to the plains each wet season. However, lions are rarely encountered east of Lemuta and they are much more readily seen inside the Serengeti proper including the Gol Kopjes area.
After having your lunch, you will continue with game view in Serengeti heading to Central Serengeti for overnight.Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Camp or Lodge. All meals included.
Serengeti (Central) – Back to Arusha
Proceed with morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge in the midafternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plains in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah.
This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl.
The Serengeti National park is a arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world with over 3 million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there including the “big 5” - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Other common species found here includes hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkey and a profusion of over 500 species of birds.
In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra begin their annual spectacular migration northwards. In their wake follow predators, lion, cheetah and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead!
